FRANK BELLO Says Musical Chemistry In ANTHRAX Is 'A Very Natural Thing'

July 17, 2016

"OnTheRock", the Chilean web program produced by PorqueFilms, conducted an interview with ANTHRAX bassist Frank Bello prior to the band's March 2106 concert in Santiago as the support act for IRON MAIDEN. You can now watch the chat below.

Speaking about the title of ANTHRAX's new album, "For All Kings", Bello said: "The way I look at 'For All Kings' is a really positive way of… You are in control of your kingdom. In your life, you are in control of your destiny; you make your own destiny. It's really about being the king of your kingdom in a positive way. So everybody can go out and be what they wanna be and really control their own kingdom. You're in control of your own kingdom and you're responsible for your own life. So, really, it is about just a positive way of looking at it."

Frank also talked about the musical chemistry that he has with ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante. He said: "We grew up together… Charlie and I are related, so we grew up literally jamming RUSH songs in our room. So RUSH songs, IRON MAIDEN songs… every metal song we've jammed together on drums and guitar, 'cause Charlie is also a great guitar player. So we've jammed a lot in our lives. So with ANTHRAX, it's a very natural thing. The chemistry that Scott [Ian, ANTHRAX guitarist], myself and Charlie have, it's automatic. It's a natural thing. Like, when we record, it's such a vibe. We look at each other, and we know it's right. It's very much embedded in our lives."

"For All Kings" sold 34,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart. According to Billboard, ANTHRAX was last in the top 10 back in 1993 with "Sound Of White Noise", which debuted and peaked at No. 7. "For All Kings" also gave ANTHRAX its largest sales week for an album since "Sound Of White Noise"'s second week on sale (40,000; it debuted with 62,000).

ANTHRAX will join forces with SLAYER and DEATH ANGEL this fall for a seven-week North American beat down. The dates start in Cleveland on September 9 and will hit both major and secondary markets across the continent.
